Our Walks

Whether you’re looking to stay active, explore new places, or connect with others, our group walks offer something for everyone year-round.

From October through the end of April, guided group walks take place on Friday and Sunday afternoons from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. As the warmer months arrive, we shift to cooler hours—offering walks on Friday and Saturday mornings from May 1 through the end of September, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. This seasonal change helps ensure a more comfortable and enjoyable experience for all participants.

After each walk, members are invited to join a casual social gathering—an ideal way to unwind, build friendships, and continue the conversation.

Rotating Guided Walks
(Fridays)
These guided neighbourhood walks start from various locations throughout the city. They highlight Kingston and its surrounding communities, giving members the chance to rediscover their city while enjoying a shared outdoor experience.
Permanent Trail (PT) Walks
(Saturdays or Sundays)
These routes are based on our established walkboxes, which include maps for both 5 km and 10 km options.

While 5 km walks are typically group-led and last just over an hour, 10 km walks are usually self-guided and take a little over two hours.

Walkboxes allow members the flexibility to walk at their own pace, whenever it suits their schedule.

Year-round walkboxes are conveniently located at:
  • The Kingston YMCA on Wright Crescent
  • The Delta Hotel on Johnson Street
  • The Kingston East Community Centre (KECC) on Highway 15
In addition, two seasonal walkboxes offer even more variety:
  • Gananoque 1000 Islands Visitor Centre (10 King St. E., Gananoque)
  • Brockville YMCA on Park Street
Event Walks
These special, one-day events bring something extra to the calendar, offering both guided group walks and self-guided options for 5 km and 10 km routes. In 2026, three exciting event walks are planned—one in Napanee, one to celebrate the club’s anniversary and a Christmas walk.

Our Special Events

Special events are at the heart of King’s Town Trekkers’ motto: Fun, Fitness and Friendship.

They provide the perfect opportunity to connect with fellow walkers, build lasting friendships, and enjoy time together beyond the walks. Best of all, family and friends are always welcome to join the fun!

Our Special Events Directors plan a variety of activities throughout the year, including both free events and those with a registration fee, ensuring there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Be sure to check back regularly for upcoming events, registration details, and new opportunities to get together with the King’s Town Trekkers community.

Each walk is an opportunity to stay active, discover new surroundings, and connect with a welcoming community.

Special Walking Programs

Special programs are a very important part of Volkssport and the King’s Town Trekkers Walking Club (KTT). KTT has linked with our national walking club, Canadian Volkssport Federation (CVF), to bring fun and motivating ways to encourage participation in walking.

CVF has a number of Special Walking Programs which encourage members to explore some of the scenic wonders of Canada. Participants receive certificates and mention in Volkssport Canada to recognize their achievements. Individuals interested in participating in these special programs can purchase the books online.

More information is available through the KTT Trail Master. Email the Trail Master at info@kttwalks.org.
