If you believe that spending time outdoors, staying active, and enjoying good company are key ingredients for a healthy, fulfilling life, then volkssporting is for you.
Volkssporting brings people together through fun, non-competitive activities that promote fitness, friendship, and exploration. Members of volkssport clubs share a passion for walking and other outdoor activities, discovering new places while enjoying the physical and social benefits of being active.
For millions of participants around the world, volkssporting is more than exercise—it’s a way to embrace adventure, build lasting friendships, and enjoy healthy recreation at a pace that suits everyone. The Canadian Volkssport Federation is proud to be part of this welcoming international community.
The word volkssport literally means “people’s sport.” The movement began more than 50 years ago in Europe, where communities recognized the need for organized, non-competitive activities that people of all ages and abilities could enjoy. Local volkssport clubs soon began hosting walks, cycling events, swimming, and cross-country skiing, and the idea quickly spread.
Today, volkssporting is enjoyed across Canada, throughout the United States, and in more than 40 countries worldwide. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely stroll, a scenic adventure, or a fun way to stay active, volkssporting offers a safe, welcoming environment free from the pressures of competition.
The best part? There are no races to win. Everyone participates at their own pace, and everyone who completes an event is a winner.
Volkssporting is what that King’s Town Trekkers Walking Club does!
